“The lyrics for Broken Bread were birthed out of my own faith perspective. So many times I’ve tried to put a smile on God’s face by working hard and trying to please Him, forgetting that He’s smiling on me already. I figure than rather than striving, it’s better to simply (and gratefully) receive and be transformed.

“During the recording process we had Doug Lancio come in to play a lead electric guitar part for the song and I remember it sounding so perfect at the time that I glanced over to producer Rick Price and we both just sat there nodding. I’ve been asked to play this song live many times, and it’s always so moving and powerful.” David Willersdorf

Broken Bread

Verse 1:

You speak, I hear, in the garden of my tears
I played, the fool, when I bent those broken rules

Verse 2:

I stayed, the true, plotting courses on my map
I tamed, the fool, I waged a war within these walls

Chorus:

I receive what you give, it’s like broken bread into my hands
I’m givin’ in, I’m lettin’ go, I’m letting you be the overflow

Bridge:

I receive your love, I receive your love
I receive your love, I receive your love

Ending:

Ohh, ohh
