This month’s song highlight is “I’ll Keep Breathing”, recorded on David Willersdorf’s Outside the Inside album in Nashville.

“This song is about loss, hope and resilience,” says David Willersdorf. “It ended up being the ideal song to kick off the ‘Outside the Inside’, an album which many people have said was a forecast of our times.

“I found myself writing the song about the concept of identifying with grief and loss, yet taking each breath at a time to get through to a place of strength and perspective.

“As I’ve gone on to perform the song live at my concerts, I have been staggered by how it has resonated with audiences, often moving many to tears. I’m guessing that there is a lot of grief out there and people can really relate to the concept of simply taking a breath at a time during the really tough moments of life.”

I’ll Keep Breathing

Verse 1:

Nothing I carry is nearly so heavy
As what you and I, we have walked away from
These hopes in my heart
How they’ve strangled me slowly
They’ve left me the shell of the man I once was
‘Cause all of my hopes were with you
All of my hopes were with you

Chorus:

I’ll keep breathing, breathing
Keeping my love here for you
I’ll keep breathing, breathing
Keeping my love here for you, Oh

Verse 2:

Remind me, what could’ve been
The life that we should’ve lived
It’s lying so empty, so broken and bare
The winds of my misery
The sweet, bitter memories
So hollow the heart that now burns in my chest
‘Cause all of my heart was with you
All of my heart was with you

Bridge:

Thinking ‘bout what mighta been
Remembering how it used to be
When you put the song in my heart
How can we have been in love
I gave my heart, it got burnt up
Now all that I have are these memories of you
