When All That Glitters Is Not Gold

“I can't remember if I lost consciousness at that point, or if my brain simply ran out of oxygen because of the uninterrupted length of my primal scream. What I did know was that that particular moment changed me neurologically...” [Photo Credit: Ashton Mullins]

The Christmas Carols

The pianist started to play. The choir started to sing. As soon as I heard the piano sound, I knew that something wasn’t right. I couldn’t see the face of the pianist from behind the stage, however, I could see the tension in her shoulders and feel the apprehension radiating from her. [Photo Credit: Anthony Skerman]

Song Lyrics: Fire This Love

“I found myself writing ‘Fire This Love’ about a rich, robust love that can handle all that life throws at it… The song was a lot of fun to record and it’s one of my favourite songs to perform live with it’s sultry yet joyous lyrics and big singalong ending.” [Photo Credit: Kyle Peyton]

Song Lyrics: Tell It To The Sky

“The idea of the line ‘Tell It To The Sky’ came about when I overheard my Mum talking to my Dad about the weather and asking if it was going to rain - Mum had been caught out a few times hanging some clothes out to dry on the clothesline. Dad didn’t think that it was going to rain and gave Mum the all clear. I distinctly remember my Mum gesturing towards a slightly greyish sky and uttering the words, ‘Tell It To The Sky’. I wrote down those words and the song basically wrote itself from there.” David Willersdorf [Photo Credit: Pierre Van Crombrugghe]

Song Lyrics: Lifeboat

“I wrote the song ‘Lifeboat’ after reading a number of accounts of people who had been lost at sea. Some were simply sailing along and a freak wave came out of the darkness and left them treading water far from home, not sure of their fate. I read stories of great heroism and the triumph of the human spirit. The stories and accounts really resonated with me on many levels.” [Photo Credit: Ivana Cajina]

I heard a quiet noise which seemed to be laughter, but I didn’t realise until later that it was coming from me. At this stage I thought it best if Mark took over the driver’s seat. [Photo Credit: David Willersdorf]

Occasionally as I sing, I sometimes get so much into a song, that I tend to lose spatial awareness. So I didn't immediately pay attention as I felt my keyboard leap into my arms. I opened my eyes... [Photo Credit: Puk Khantho]
